This is my last year at FSPA, and it seems like so many things are going wrong for me. Specifically, the Creative Writing contest. This year the contest was divided into Fiction and Poetry. I got put in poetry. What the shit is that?! I don't write poetry.
To make things worse, I ate a cheese burger via room service and got sick. After staying up half the night trying to beat my apparent constipation, I finally evacuated the burger this morning through my esophagus. I still felt pretty sick for pretty much the entire day and night, so I ended up missing the banquet. However, so far, our school's taken quite a few honors, so things are looking well.
Other than that, there's not much to say. I need to eat, but I need something bland like saltines or toast.
I finished reading and watching The Constant Gardener. The movie really enhanced the book, and made me fall the fuck in love with Tessa Quayle. |

| Sedaris Fever |
[Apr. 15th, 2006|01:09 am] |
David Sedaris was great tonight. We were the second in line before the show for him to sign my mom's copies of his books, all of which were nicely personalized. My favorite being: "Caryn, I wish you were my special ed teacher. Love, David Sedaris."
One thing that I was really happy was that I had not heard any of the things that he read before. He started off with one of his recent "animal stories"/fables (he hinted that his next book will possibly be a compilation of these, the only problem being the illustrations that would be needed to go in there - "Those take up a lot of pages. I'm working on them."
He read two pieces from The New Yorker - one that was printed last week (which was one of his best yet) and one that will be printed in a few weeks.
The graduating class of Princeton is also very lucky that he's going to be the speaker at their graduation. He read the first three pages of his Princeton speech (because that's all he's written) and it was truly the highlight of the night.
At the end of the night, he took a few questions. As expected, somebody asked when the Strangers with Candy movie would be coming out.
"Well that's so sweet of you to ask me about my sister! Ah yes, that's going to be coming out in June and uh... oh, 'When's my next book coming out'?! Thank you for asking that!" |

This Friday I'm going to see and hear David Sedaris live at the Broward Center.
Any Sedaris fans out there, and if so, ever seen him live? |

Saved by the Bell is going to be on Adult Swim. Wouldn't Nick at Nite be more appropriate? |

Bryan Hinton, a coworker of mine, commented on my performance at work as such: "Last night, we could all tell that you'd left."
He meant it as a complement. In other words, "Everything was up shit creek after you left." Bryan's complement really made my day. I've been insanely proud of myself at work lately because I'm more prone to have biting critisizing outburts at the cooks when I'm right and they're wrong, or at servers who are sitting around and slacking off when it's too busy for such behavior. I even garnered applause from one coworker for snapping at a cook. Yes sir, I'm doing amazing, and it's incredible.
To any of you Full Sail folks: did any of you have a woman with the last name Wergan (sp?) as a professor there, or do you know (of) her?
And now for notable lines of dialogue that made me smile this weekend:
1) "I'm dehydrated. My mouth is all dry, I need a drink. Why don't you come in my mouth?" 2) "...and that's how I get laid." |

Why is it that I visit my school's website for information that I, as a senior, desperately need, yet all I find are worthless photoshop graphics and "2006 Graduating Senior Information Coming Soon."
What a worthless fucking website. |

The Social Security Administration has the most fucking absurd phone system I've ever dealt with in the world. IN THE WORLD!!!
Su Doku is by far the most addicting thing I've ever been exposed to. I CAN'T STOP!!! |

I got my FSU Student ID, which I guess makes me more of an official 'Nole than I was before. Sounds like a good deal to me.
In the picture on the ID, I look like a creep/stalker/pedophile/killer of sorts. This FSU card has got me down pat! |

So I saw V for Vendetta and it was great and all, but can somebody please tell me why I've never heard this crazy shit about Larry Wachowski, half of the Wachowski Brothers, getting a fucking sex change after leaving his wife for a famous dominatrix. I mean so like... he's a lesbian now. What the fuck? |

| | Modest Mouse | ] | Happy belated St. Patrick's Day. I didn't get trashed because I don't really drink at all, so instead I worked and made a lot of money, since you know, a sports bar is gonna be fucking packed on St. Patty's Day.
We're also coming off of a lax week at school - with the FCAT on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I opted to not sit with a substitute for three hours or so and instead spent those days at work. I worked with my dad for three days, and I rarely work with him. It was quite nice to spend some time with him (even if it was at work). He's proud of me lately because I've been working a lot, specifically, I've been volunteering myself to work when I don't need to, but when the store needs me to (like tonight). Working more has actually made me like going to work a lot more, but I don't know why. I feel more... adult? I dunno what it is.
I'm not gonna be working for a while though, because this weekend I'm heading up to Tallahassee to see the school. Again, this is going to be more time spent with my dad, which is cool.
I like when people I know come into my work, esp. if I'm not expecting them to come there. It's always a pleasant surprise! :D
Also, I now know a ghost tracker. You know, those guys with emp equipment and stuff who find ghost signals and voice recordings in white noise. HOW FUCKING AWESOME IS THAT?! |

I miss wanting to be a filmmaker. |

| Zach O'Connell as Eugene Yess on "The Bachelorette" |
[Mar. 10th, 2006|01:07 pm] |
For everybody who caught my performance as super nerd Eugene Yess on Buckeye Production's "The Bachelorette," what did you think of me? Are you embarassed to know me after seeing that? Did I show my true versatility as an actor (I know you're used to seeing me play my typical Vin Deisel-meets-Eddie Murphy-type character - they always typecast me, it's never a challenge you know?)
Also, if you watched the whole way through, or at least most of the way through, were you rooting for moi, the nerdy underdog, to win??? I know I was! :D
I dunno. Maybe Eugene will have better luck on "Deal or No Deal?!" He'll give you the odds... with two decimal places! |

Ugh. I don't have the strength for anything today. Mental, physical, etc. I'd rather be confined to bed with chicken and stars soup in front of me. |
